Mappt heads to the US for the Esri User Conference

Why this was the best Esri conference yet

Last month, three members of the Mappt team flocked from Australia to the U.S. They spent most of their trip stomping around San Francisco, but before they touched down in Silicon Valley, they stopped in San Diego for the Esri User Conference 2016.

Held between June 27 – July 1, Pete (Mappt Brand and Strategy) and Hamish (Mappt Sales Manager) joined Takor Group CEO Amir Farhand and 16,000 fellow geogeeks in the San Diego Convention Center. For three days they walked a lot, talked a lot and explored the technologies and services the exhibitors were offering.

They also caught up with a few technology partners and met a few of our existing clients, who use Esri with Mappt for field mapping.

Pete was interviewed by GIS Cafe to explain what makes Mappt unique from the other GIS software on the market. You already know what makes Mappt awesome, but if you want to watch the interview anyway, click here.

There were also plenty of talks over the three days, and one that stood out for Amir was the ‘Lightning Talk’ by Chris Ferenci on “Designing GIS Interfaces for Mobile”.

“Chris gave a wonderful account on the evolution of mobile design and how it’s paramount to make sure you cater for all the phones and tablets that are now available,” says Amir. “When it comes to Mappt, we have taken measures to make sure we can work with the latest and most popular Android versions to give our users the best experience possible.”

Overall, the guys thought it was the best Esri conference they’ve been to, and not just because San Diego was a cool place to hang out and they stayed by the beach.

“The conference centre was superb and it was run brilliantly. There were hands-on areas, constant product demos, lots of people and third party suppliers. We’ve got to hand it to them, Esri really know how to plan a conference” says Pete.

After Esri’s User Conference, they flew over to Silicon Valley to meet with companies and organisations that not only want to procure Mappt, but also integrate our mobile GIS solution into their own offerings. These meetings were super successful and have drawn paths for exciting times ahead. Watch this space!

After a hectic trip, it was time for a little sight seeing before they headed back to Perth…
